North Point Defense is seeking a skilled and motivated Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to join its growing team. Responsibilities may include:
- Advise the ISSM, CIO, and other stakeholders on the design, implementation, and maintenance of security architectures for information systems.
- Assist in the design, selection, assessment, and monitoring of information system security controls.
- Support the periodic review and implementation of the Information System Security Program.
- Assess and mitigate system vulnerabilities to strengthen overall security posture.
- Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments on organizational systems.
- Monitor and respond to security incidents in accordance with organizational protocols and guidelines.
- Stay current with the latest cybersecurity trends and threats to proactively address potential risks.
- Help ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and security frameworks (e.g., NIST SP 800-171).
- Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security best practices into system designs.
- Contribute to the ongoing maintenance of System Security Plans, Plans of Action & Milestones, and other Information Assurance documentation.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Cybersecurity or related field with five years of experience, M.S. in Cybersecurity or related field with three years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in an information assurance role.
- Familiarity with the following guidance documents:
- NIST SP 800-53
- NIST SP 800-37 RMF
- DoDI 5200.48
- CMMC
- JSIG
- DAAPM
- Experience with compliance tracking applications (e.g., Xacta, eMASS)
- Strong experience with Linux (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu) is required.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Windows Server environments.
- Knowledge of cloud security or experience with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- DoD 8570-M IAM level 1 certification is a plus.
- Active DoD TS/SCI clearance is a plus; ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance is required.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical information to diverse audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Candidates selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (Security Clearance). U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
