    GENERAL PURPOSE

    Performs a variety of technical and skilled tasks in the areas of social/digital media and IT.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED

    Works under the general supervision of the Business Administrator.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Maintains and develops social/digital media, website, and other print and digital media sources of the city.

    Gathers and prepares information for publishing of city newsletter and prepares other special publications.

    Acts as city liaison for publication and notice of special projects impacting the public within city boundaries (construction/road closure, public utilities).

    Performs first-level identification, prioritization, and resolution of end user technical support requests.

    Assists with installation of new hardware and software systems.

    Maintain, troubleshoot and correct problems on various designated programs.

    Provides training to end users relating to information technology and software.

    Assists with the daily system operations.

    Regular and predictable attendance

    Other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

    1. Education and Experience

    A. Graduation from college with an associated degree in computer science, information technology, information systems or other related field;

    B. Two to three years of experience related to the essential functions.

    C. A+ certification required, preference for Certified Network Engineer (CNE) and/or Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE).

    D. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    2. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks, and operating systems. Troubleshooting, problem solving and attention to detail skills are necessary to quickly identify issues and implement solutions without overlooking minor details and causes. An understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices to protect data and IT infrastructure are necessary.

    Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple issues/assignments at once is essential for success in this position. Effective written communication skills are necessary to convey concise social/digit media content.

    3. Special Qualifications:

    Must pass a background investigation.

    Must be able to move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

    Must possess a valid driver’s license.

    4. Work Environment:

    Tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, etc. Talking, hearing and seeing are essential to the performance of the job. Common eye, hand, and finger dexterity required. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, and discriminating thinking. Frequent local travel is required in normal course of job performance. Occasionally exposed to electrical hazards. Strength of arms, hands, legs, and back required in the performance of essential functions.

    FLSA AND AT-WILL STATUS

    This position is non-appointed and is entitled to protections of Utah Code 10-3-1105. As such, the IT and Digital Media Technician shall be entitled to due process appeal authority as set forth in Utah Code 10-3-1106.

    The IT and Digital Media Technician position is a non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
