    Position Mission

    The Infrastructure Automation Engineer will be responsible for automating infrastructure and application systems, Level 2 and 3 support escalations, remediating cybersecurity risks, and contributing to various ad-hoc operational IT projects. The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of experience with scripting languages (Python/PowerShell) and a strong focus on automation, end-user support, and cybersecurity operations. In addition, this role involves actively participating in FOCUS’s mission partner development, supporting FOCUS’s evangelistic efforts, and fostering spiritual growth aligned with the organization’s Catholic mission. This is a full-time, on-site position in Golden, Colorado.

    Position Responsibilities

    1. Infrastructure & Application Automation

    • Scripting & Tooling: Develop and maintain scripts (Python, PowerShell) to automate repetitive tasks, deployments, and application processes.
    • Infrastructure as Code : Contribute to configuration management and IaC (Infrastructure as Code) initiatives (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) to streamline environment setups and reduce manual interventions.
    • Continuous Improvement : Identify areas for optimization within current systems and processes, proactively suggesting and implementing automation solutions.

    2. Ticket Escalation & Support (Level 2 and 3)

    • Incident Resolution : Provide timely and effective resolution for escalated support tickets, ensuring high satisfaction levels among end users.
    • Technical Troubleshooting : Diagnose complex hardware, software, and network issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams when needed.
    • Knowledge Sharing : Document solutions and best practices for junior team members and maintain an internal knowledge base.

    3. Cybersecurity Remediations

    • Vulnerability Management : Remediate cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities uncovered by scans, pen tests, or security audits.
    • Security Collaboration : Work with the security team to ensure compliance with organizational policies, industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001), and data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
    • Monitoring & Alerts: Configure and maintain security monitoring tools (SIEM, EDR) to detect threats, respond to incidents, and mitigate risks swiftly.

    4. Ad-Hoc IT Projects

    • Operational Support : Assist in various IT initiatives—such as system upgrades, migrations, and new deployments—to ensure timely, quality outcomes.
    • Cross-Functional Engagement : Collaborate with other departments (Finance, HR, Mission Development, etc.) to identify technology needs and deliver effective solutions.
    • Project Documentation : Maintain clear records of project requirements, actions, and outcomes, sharing lessons learned with the broader IT team.

    5. Personal Mission Partner Development Outreach & Support

    • Fundraising Responsibility : Develop and engage with personal Mission Partners to raise 50% of the $75k–$100k salary, in alignment with FOCUS’s model of support raising.
    • Relationship Building : Communicate FOCUS’s mission, personal stories, and the impact of the evangelistic outreach to potential and existing Mission Partners.
    • Spiritual Growth & Community: Participate in FOCUS spiritual activities, team events, and community-building efforts to foster personal faith development and share FOCUS’s Catholic mission.

    Qualifications

    • Education & Experience: * Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). * 1–3 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure automation, scripting (Python/PowerShell), and end-user support.
    • Technical Skills : * Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in Python or PowerShell for automating infrastructure, application deployments, and routine tasks. * Systems & Networks: Familiarity with Windows and Linux server environments, virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and fundamental networking concepts. * Security & Compliance: Understanding of vulnerability assessment tools (Nessus, Qualys, Rapid7), security monitoring (SIEM), and standard frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001). * Infrastructure as Code (IaC) : Basic exposure to Terraform, Ansible, or similar technologies for automating infrastructure provisioning. * Ticketing & Collaboration Tools: Experience with ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira, or equivalent) and documentation platforms (Confluence, SharePoint).
    • Preferred Qualifications :
      • Familiarity with DevOps concepts, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
      • Certifications in relevant areas (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Azure Administrator, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator).
      • Previous experience or familiarity with support raising in a faith-based or non-profit environment.
    • Soft Skills & Attributes:
      • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; ability to remain calm under pressure.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
      • Self-motivated team player with attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning.
      • Willingness to integrate FOCUS’s Catholic mission and values into personal and professional development.

    Compensation & Benefits

    For this role, we anticipate paying $75,000 - $100,000/year. This range is an estimate. The actual amount may be higher or lower than the provided range and will be adjusted based on various factors including qualifications, experience, abilities, geographic location, and duties.

    Personal Mission Partner Development (MPD) is one way in which FOCUS invites others to be on mission with us through the gift of their financial support. In this position, the POSITION will be expected to fundraise a minimum of $3,125 per month to support their work with FOCUS.
