RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assess and monitors therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physician.
Exhibit passion for and experience in Oncology patient care
Manage patients with oncologic and hematologic diagnoses
Duties will include administration of IV, and oral medications, vascular access device maintenance and monitoring, chemotherapy/immunotherapy administration, blood administration, therapeutic phlebotomy, assessment of patient symptoms and the management of side effects, and over all collaboration on patient treatment plans
Mixing and administration of chemotherapy drugs
Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families throughout treatment
Triages patient/family phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart.
Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
Current RN NY state license
2+ years of Clinical experience in an outpatient Oncology setting preferred
2+ years of peripheral IV experience
Chemotherapy/biotherapy or OCN Certification required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire
Strong communication, organizational and customer service skills
Bilingual Hindi or Spanish highly preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires sitting, walking, and standing.
