    This internship is designed to give students and aspiring cybersecurity professionals an opportunity to gain real-world experience working within a development or engineering team by providing exposure to the technology, data, processes, and expectations that accompany a Security Engineer role. Guided coaching paired with independently-driven, hands-on activities will help you to develop vital technical skills as well as soft skills. The internship offers ambitious students an opportunity to move from theoretical knowledge to practical, hands-on experience.

    Responsibilities

    The Cybersecurity Engineering Intern will assist in maintaining and developing the information systems used to support the Ingalls Security Operations Center including networks, systems, applications, platforms, databases, and operating procedures. Ingalls takes a DevOps approach to its SOC: Interns can expect to both perform SOC duties, such as security event analysis, and to support development and integration efforts for SOC tools and technologies. The cybersecurity engineer intern shall assist in breach response, network monitoring, tool deployment, tool development, and systems integration, specifically:     Support the delivery of managed cybersecurity services within a continuous development environment.     Support integration of security data, procedures, and tools on Linux, Mac, and Windows platforms.     Perform and review technical security assessments of computing environments to identify points of vulnerability and non-compliance with established standards or regulatory requirements.

    Qualifications

    • Enrolled in a degree program for one of the following: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline.

    • Interest or experience with our technology stack     Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure)     Python, Go or equivalent scripting language     Virtual Machines (VmWare, Citrix, etc)     Containers (Docker, Kubernetes)     Micro-Services / Serverless Architecture     SQL or No-SQL Databases (Elastic, Graph, SQL)     Security Analysis

    Open to United States citizens only Schedule: 20-32 hrs/wk Compensation: $13 - $15 hourly, depending on experience. We will work with your academic institution if they offer academic credit. Internship Length: 10-12 weeks Location: Remote work will be considered, otherwise will be on-site at our Cyber Innovation Center office in Bossier City, LA. If remote is approved, we will require the first and last week of the internship to be completed on-site.
