    QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree in paralegal studies and at least one (1) year of experience working as a paralegal, preferably in Family Law. Strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office software; experience working with legal database and legal research programs a plus. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work independently and efficiently under strict deadlines, and ability to prioritize tasks. Experience dealing with people in crisis. Understanding of empowerment philosophies. Bilingual a plus, but not required.

    JOB SUMMARY: Paralegal to assist with the Injunction for Protection (IFP) Project. The Paralegal will report directly to the IFP Project Attorney and will provide administrative and legal support to the IFP Attorney. This position will be located at the Quigley House outreach office located inside the Clay County Courthouse.

    TIME SPENT: Approximate time spent performing typical types of services for VOCA: 65% Criminal Justice Advocacy 20% Administrative Duties such as correspondence, maintaining files and other services 10% Research 5% Other services 100%

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Conduct client interviews via telephone and/or face-to-face.
    2. Maintain client database, client files, and attorney calendar.
    3. Draft and send client correspondence and other documents, as requested by the IFP Attorney.
    4. Conduct legal research, as requested by the IFP Attorney.
    5. Coordinate with advocates on referrals and services for legal clients.
    6. Assist IFP Attorney with other duties, as needed. Every staff member is responsible to do the following: a. Understand and promote the culture of philanthropy. b. Serve as a philanthropic ambassador within the organization and community. c. Help cultivate relationships on behalf of and in support of the organization.
