    Job Description

    SUMMARY: 

    Reporting directly to the Plant Manager and indirectly to the Corporate EHS Manager, the incumbent shall carry out the day to day operations of the EHS department and contribute to the application of effective Environmental, Health and Safety management by providing technical support.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTION/DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support Environmental, Health and Safety management.
    • Maintain relevant EHS logs and documentation.
    • Assist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations.
    • Prepare applicable EHS reports as necessary.
    • Provide assistance and advice on EHS issues to make recommendations to facility management.
    • Participate in detailed incident investigations and root cause analysis.
    • Promote incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors.
    • Assist in the development and presentation of relevant EHS training.
    • Observe EHS regulations, wears all required safety equipment, encourages safe working practices, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports them to the proper personnel.
    • Ability to work with employees and achieve cultural change in the face of potential resistance.
    • Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies.
    • Perform other work related tasks as required as assigned.
    • Comply with all Inline Plastics’ company and EHS procedures and policies.

    FACILITY SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Walk the manufacturing floor on a regular basis to establish EHS presence and provide support.
    • Conduct daily and monthly EHS Meetings/Trainings and schedule as required.
    • Write, implement and manage EHS Programs, Policies and Procedures.
    • Perform facility EHS Inspections.
    • Ability to evaluate PPE and ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE.
    • Have knowledge and enforce compliance of Regulatory requirements (i.e., OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, etc.), including company EHS policies and procedures.
    • Ability to oversee Hazardous Waste Storage area and ensure regulatory agency compliance i.e. labeling, containment, proper disposal, documentation, etc.
    • Perform Storm Water Discharge sampling and document events.
    • Assist in emergency response and provide first aid treatment.
    • Oversee Behavior Based / Observation Safety Programs (e.g., DuPont STOP).
    • Help develop Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
    • Develop and Implement a Follow Fall Protection Program, inspect all fall protection equipment and maintain inspection records.
    • Up to 10% travel to other Inline locations for meetings, training, inspections, etc.
    • Ability to oversee Safety Incentive Programs.
    • Assist in administering and maintaining compliance programs such as LOTO, Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, BBP, etc.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by Corporate EHS Manager.

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: 

    • Prefer Bachelor's Degree in Occupational, Health & Safety sciences or minimum of 1 year experience in an Environmental, Health and Safety position; Technical writing a plus.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Willing to work different shifts and travel up to 10% of the time.
    • Audits and promotes a safety culture with management and employees to increase proficiency in safe work practices and promote employee security

    1. Education and/or Experience - Bachelor’s degree in the Safety discipline or equivalent plus two years related experience.
    2. Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine procedures, reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
    3. Mathematical Skills - Work with mathematical statistics, probability and applications. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers, multiply and divide by 10's, and calculate figures and amounts such as percentages.
    4. Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving a variety of situations. Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Deal with non-verbal symbolism (formulas, equations, graphs, etc.)
