    USPI Foundation Surgical Hospital of San Antonio is seeking a motivated Inpatient Nurse Supervisor to join our team. We have 20 private suites and 5 OR rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Bariatric, Orthopedic, General, Neuro/Spine, ENT, Pain, Urology.

    Job Summary: The Inpatient Clinical Nurse Supervisor is responsible for all PSU, ICU, and Emergency Room departmental functions in support of the hospital mission, vision, and facility goals. The supervisor is responsible for and aids, provides input and direction for all departmental evaluations, disciplinary actions, and the hiring of staff. The Supervisor identifies the cost-effective systems needed to support the business of the department. This position establishes effective working relationships with all constituencies including patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and vendors. The Supervisor identifies and remedies areas of focus, improvements, and changes through continuous customer satisfaction data and employee involvement and other tools, process design, and information. The supervisor works with the Director of Clinical Services in meeting unit/department goals.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manages all aspects of operations of PSU.
    • Participates on facility Quality Council.
    • Assists with staffing the unit as needed.
    • Assigns tasks based on age specific competency of staff.
    • Accountable for safety issues regarding patients.
    • Liaison between staff and department Director as needed
    • Performs all required training, competencies, and meets timely deadlines for self and staff

    Required Skills

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate of accredited School of Nursing, BSN preferred Licensure/Certification
    • Current Texas RN License
    • BLS required, must get ACLS and PALS within 5 months of hire date
    • Minimum two years’ experience in Medical/Surgical or ICU nursing
    • Minimum two years’ experience in management or supervisory position
    • Ability to make independent sound clinical nursing and supportive management decisions.
    • Capable of effective listening, conflict resolution, and great communicator.
    • Demonstrates communication skills appropriate to age.
    • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and plans for special age specific needs of surgical patients and their families
    • Ability to utilize Electronic Heath Care Record for patient documentation
