Job Description
The Inside Service Technician is responsible for performing detailed evaluations, service repairs, calibrations, and maintenance on a wide range of surveying instruments, lasers, GPS equipment, and accessories to meet or exceed company standards. This role requires a strong foundation in both electrical and mechanical systems, with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues. Additionally, the technician will assist customers directly and maintain a thorough knowledge of the company's product and service offerings. This position will report directly to the Inside Service Leader on all matters.
General responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Calibrate new and used equipment to factory specifications using technical manuals and diagnostic tools,
Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in surveying instruments, GPS equipment, and rotating lasers.
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of service quotes, repair logs, calibrations, and warranty claims.
Track and manage an inventory of parts and tools required for repairs and testing.
Communicate effectively with customers throughout the service process, providing updates and technical insights.
Provide remote phone support and technical guidance for 3D Machine Control Systems and related products.
Stay up-to-date on new hardware, system calibration techniques, and software updates.
Participate in ongoing training to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
Qualifications

Highschool diploma required; Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred.
Minimum 2 years of technical service experience in electrical, electronic, or mechanical repair.
Proven experience with diagnostics and troubleshooting in similar equipment or systems.
Familiarity with surveying instruments, GPS equipment, lasers, 3D Machine Control Systems is highly desirable.
Hands-on experience with electrical testing tools and mechanical repair techniques.
Work Environment:
This role primarily involves working in a service center, with occasional interaction with customers and equipment suppliers. Technicians may be required to lift and handle heavy equipment and parts safely.
