    The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Internship Program at The Henry Ford is a cohort-based program that offers professional development, mentorship, and networking opportunities. We invite diverse candidates* who are curious about careers in the museum world to become a part of our legacy and take it forward. For Summer 2025, internships will last 12 weeks, projected to begin on May 27 th and conclude on August 22nd.

    How will we work together?

    The Institutional Advancement Intern can expect to work hybrid. Based on specific project and special event needs, there are times when you and the team will work on-site at The Henry Ford's campus in Dearborn, MI. This internship opportunity will be led by the Senior Director of Institutional Advancement at The Henry Ford and supported by our Advancement team.

    This internship provides a well-rounded opportunity for you to gain in-depth work experience in a major American history museum with a specific focus on philanthropy tactics. Your work will support growth and stewardship strategies for donor societies, such as Carver Carson (Edible Education) and Drivers Club, as well as mid-range societies and corporate and foundation giving.

    You will also contribute to the collaborative success of The Henry Ford's invention education competition (Invention Convention Worldwide) as well as other special summer programs. We are also committed to providing unique projects that align with your professional and academic interests. We hope you will join us!

    What should you have?

    To be successful, the Institutional Advancement Intern should have an interest in fundraising or sponsorship as well as a demonstrated commitment to non-profit work through academic, professional, or volunteer experience.

    The DEIA Internship Program Overview and Time Commitment

    The DEIA Internship Program's mission is to offer opportunities in museum work to emerging professionals who identify with historically marginalized groups and to invite our interns to think outside the box and explore their careers in new ways.

    Participants will engage in the program through various bi-weekly professional development workshops hosted on our Dearborn campus. It is mandatory for participants to attend, and applicants should work with their leadership to ensure proper attendance. Workshops occur on Wednesdays during the work week.

    Attendance to our Intern Orientation is also mandatory. Our Summer 2025 orientation will occur on Tuesday, May 27 th, 2025 at 8:30am.
