Job Title: Field Technician (Air Quality) Location: Various Locations in L.A., Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties, CA Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shift, 12-month contract
Job Summary: We are seeking a Field Technician to operate and maintain electromechanical equipment used in monitoring air pollutants and atmospheric conditions across the greater Los Angeles area. This role involves fieldwork at various locations to monitor gaseous and particulate air contaminants, perform equipment maintenance, and support data collection for air quality analysis. The ideal candidate will be reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently to meet critical deadlines. This is a 12-month contract position.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain electromechanical instrumentation at air monitoring and meteorological stations.
Inspect and perform routine maintenance on equipment, including meters, pumps, recorders, tubing, and wiring.
Retrieve and replace components such as strip charts, filters, and canisters.
Deliver retrieved items (charts, canisters, filters) to the laboratory for analysis.
Prepare and maintain logs, records, and performance reports on equipment and maintenance activities.
Perform data analysis to mathematically reduce data for reporting.
Respond to emergency service calls in a timely manner.
Perform basic laboratory tasks, such as sample preparation, as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Completion of significant college coursework in electronics, physics, chemistry, or related fields, OR directly transferable experience (transcripts required).
Experience:
2+ years of experience operating laboratory instruments.
3+ years of experience in field service and maintenance of equipment.
1+ year of experience in environmental or scientific fields preferred.
Skills:
Ability to operate, maintain, and repair electromechanical instruments.
Ability to reduce and analyze data for meaningful reports.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
Ability to follow both written and oral instructions.
Must be responsive to service calls and work efficiently under deadlines.
Licenses:
Valid California Class C Driver’s License.
Auto insurance meeting California requirements.
Work Schedule:
8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with two consecutive days off.
Flexibility required to start as early as 4:00 a.m. to ensure air sample delivery by 11:00 a.m.
12-month contract position.
Pay:
$24.00 - $28.00 per hour
Mileage reimbursement for travel to and between work sites.
