Job Description
The Insurance Collection Specialist is responsible for the collections of insurance claims. Essential to this position is the ability to manage all insurance follow up for maximum insurance reimbursement. To include outbound and inbound insurance carrier calls, reprocessing claims, drafting appeals, working denials and resolving unpaid claims. Responsible for ensuring accurate payment posting from both patients and insurance providers.
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
Understanding and staying informed of the changes with procedures, billing guidelines, and laws for specific insurance.
Initiating collection follow-up on all unpaid or denied claims with appropriate insurance carriers.
Research, appeal, and resolve unpaid insurance claims.
Actively follow up and collect on all electronic claims, including resolution of any billing errors assigned following established procedures.
Respond to correspondence from insurance carriers.
Payment posting of patient account payments and insurance payments.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years in insurance follow up and insurance collections.
Experience in reading EOB’S is a must.
Experience in appeals in a high-volume claims environment.
Communicates clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, establishes and maintains long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations.
Prior experience working with commercial payers such as UHC, Cigna, Aetna, BCBS, Marketplace
Demonstrate excellent problem-solving and negotiating skills.
Ability to sustain prolonged sitting and extended computer use. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and to make quick decisions. Require hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Additional Information
Pay Range: $19 - $22 per hour
Status: Full time, non-exempt
