    Full-TIme Insurance Verification Clerk

    Physicians' Surgery Center of Tidewater is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Insurance Verifier to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for verifying insurance coverage, obtaining pre-authorizations, and ensuring accurate billing for a variety of surgical procedures in our multispecialty surgery center. We are looking for someone with demonstrated longevity in past roles who values long-term career growth and stability.

    Key Responsibilities :

    • Accurately verify patient insurance coverage for all scheduled surgeries and procedures.
    • Obtain required authorizations and pre-certifications from insurance companies before scheduled surgeries.
    • Review and document detailed insurance benefits, including co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximums.
    • Work closely with patients and physicians to resolve any coverage or authorization issues before surgery dates.
    • Update patient records with verified insurance information and maintain a high level of accuracy in documentation.
    • Communicate effectively with insurance companies to clarify coverage, resolve discrepancies, and escalate complex issues as needed.
    • Collaborate with the billing team to ensure clean claims submission and prompt reimbursement.
    • Provide patients with an understanding of their financial responsibility before surgery.
    • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations at all times.

    Preferred Skills :

    • Familiarity with multi-specialty surgical procedures and related insurance coding.
    • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 codes, and authorization procedures.

    Required Skills

    • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or higher in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in insurance verification, preferably in a healthcare or surgical setting.
    • Demonstrated longevity in previous roles; candidates with a stable work history will be prioritized.
    • Strong knowledge of health insurance plans, including commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid.
    • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and insurance portals.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
