    Job Description

    The IT Technician works as part of the IT department under the supervision of the IT Network Administrator to provide computer and technology support to company employees. The IT department helps ensure that the company network is functioning properly and up to date from top to bottom. The position requires a detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to follow clear instructions and experience working with computers, networking, and peripherals.

    Qualified candidates should have earned a degree in information systems, computer science, or a related degree or possess technical training and on-the-job experience. Knowledge of computer networking systems and computer hardware is essential as the IT Technician will work with the IT Network Administrator to troubleshoot network systems and computer hardware and make repairs as needed. Candidates should have knowledge of and/or certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, or Oracle.

    The IT department writes and manages several in-house programming solutions as well as automation to help make company processes and departments more efficient. When called upon, the IT staff supports the ITAD division which inspects, grades, sorts, and packages computers, parts, and peripherals by wiping drives, installing operating systems, checking functionality of equipment to be recycled and repurposed, and packaging, as necessary.

    The IT Technician should be able to work well as part of a team to help support the maintenance and supervision of more than a dozen servers, a 120+ GPU mining rigs, 75+ users and workstations, a department-managed VOIP phone system, 100+ camera closed-circuit security system, proprietary software, redundant 1+ GB fiber optic data, and a diesel generator capable of sustaining power to the site for more than 30 days.

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Service and resolve hardware, software, and system functionality and configuration with a strong focus on ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
    • Proactively monitor, upgrade, and service a wide range of IT infrastructure, including servers, desktops, laptops, remote workstations, and peripherals, to minimize downtime and enhance overall productivity.
    • Employ a comprehensive approach to maintaining computer systems, adeptly troubleshooting errors, and proficiently repairing hardware, thereby safeguarding the organization's critical resources.
    • Demonstrate expertise in analyzing and troubleshooting technology issues to swiftly identify root causes and implement effective solutions, minimizing disruptions and improving efficiency.
    • Exhibit a robust skill set in installing, maintaining, and repairing both hardware and software components of the organization's computers, ensuring seamless operations and long-term reliability.
    • Prioritize and respond promptly to company helpdesk tickets related to hardware, software, and operations functionality, consistently meeting service level agreements and exceeding user expectations.
    • Successfully manage the resolution of assigned IT issues within acceptable service levels and defined timeframes, applying a systematic approach and maintaining a focus on customer satisfaction.
    • Utilize a diverse range of methods, including SSH, WHM, web interfaces, event logs, and product support, to identify and solve complex technical issues, fostering a well-rounded problem-solving capability.
    • Conduct both basic and advanced repairs on computer hardware, leveraging comprehensive knowledge and experience to ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of IT assets.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in building and troubleshooting Windows and Linux Servers, Web Servers, and Domain Controllers, thereby ensuring a stable and secure IT infrastructure.
    • Exhibit expertise in resolving issues related to database management, operating system configuration, and server-side applications, bolstering system efficiency and data integrity.
    • Skillfully troubleshoot Exchange and mail spam filtering servers in a hybrid environment, demonstrating an in-depth understanding of complex email systems.
    • Regularly perform routine hardware and software upgrades and fine-tune performance to keep systems up-to-date and maintain peak efficiency.
    • Conduct thorough overhauls and recalibration of workstations and associated hardware to optimize performance and prolong the lifespan of IT equipment.
    • Actively monitor network, web, and security applications, promptly identifying and addressing potential threats or vulnerabilities to maintain a secure IT environment.
    • Expertly configure user settings during installations, onboarding, and transfers, ensuring a smooth and seamless user experience throughout the organization.
    • Proficiently provision VOIP phone systems using PBX SIP Provisioning for devices and users, enabling efficient and reliable communication within the organization.
    • Contribute to data analysis, systems migration, and upgrades, leveraging technical expertise to ensure successful implementation and seamless integration of new technologies.
    • Assist in directing and managing department interns, providing guidance and mentorship to foster their professional development and contribute to the overall success of the team.
    • Demonstrate adaptability and versatility by actively participating in other projects as needed, showcasing a willingness to contribute to the organization's success beyond the scope of regular responsibilities.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Computer Science, IT, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, Computer Networking, or a related qualification preferred
    • Must be mechanically inclined with some experience with computers
    • Should have command line PowerShell experience
    • Experience dealing with end users in an enterprise technical support environment is ideal
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to troubleshoot website issues in a fast-paced environment
    • Working knowledge of programming languages and operating systems
    • Experience with PHP, Access, MySQL, Java/JavaScript, and Python is preferred.
    • Knowledge of website management tools
    • Expertise working with cPanel and WHM preferred
    • Strong PC keyboarding skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
    • Some MX and Mail Security experience preferred.
    • Experience with O365 is required
    • Must be naturally driven to produce high quality results with great care
    • Diligent attitude and punctuality are required
