Construction Intern
Job Summary:
The Construction Intern will assist with estimating, bidding, project management, purchasing, scheduling and site meetings and is responsible for the following duties under the supervision of and subject to the instructions of the Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, and Vice President of Construction:
The Construction Intern will assist the project team and expedite the administrative, safety, and operational processes required to deliver a finished product to the client on time and within budget.
As an intern, you will work as an additional aid on the Project Team. Depending on abilities and skills, and prior experience, you will be placed in a position that best fits you. At the direction of the team lead, the intern may assist with communication between Subcontractors, Foreman, Architect, Clientele, and related personnel. This position may require you to have the ability to file, track, and learn administrative processes. Interns are expected to be dependable in a manner that highlights their ability to complete and follow-up on tasks in a regular day timeframe.
Role Expectations and Competencies:
Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communication with co-workers and customers.
Organized and detail-oriented focus.
Basic knowledge of broad construction theories including but not limited to: take-off, scheduling, pre-construction, personnel management, progression of a construction project, data-gathering, reading and interpreting blueprints and construction drawings
Demonstrates accountability and teamwork through following instructions, policies, and procedures. Learns standards, deadlines, and work schedules through being reliable on the jobsite.
Basic understanding of job site ethics and safety and adheres to a set of core values that are represented in actions.
As an intern you will seek and acquire new competencies, work methods, ideas, and information that will improve your own efficiency and effectiveness on the job.
Experience and Qualifications:
Candidates must be working towards a college degree in construction management (or a related field) and be seeking internship experience.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications with awareness of various construction management applications such as Auto Desk Plan Grid, etc.
Willingness to learn and assume responsibilities relative to construction operations and management.
Open to periodic travel
