An Account Executive (AE) serves as the media's point of contact and often acts as community manager for the client's social media networks. He/she works closely with his/her supervisor to manage small-scale programs, provide excellent client service and lead the junior staff. An AE should possess a deep understanding of their client's industry, competitors and industry trends.
- Develop and support communications plans including goals, objectives, strategies and tactics
- Provide superior client service, working with supervisor to cultivate relationships
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media including traditional outlets and bloggers, securing top placements for client
- Share proactive, creative recommendations with supervisor and client including new social media engagement strategies, pitch angles, content ideas, target partnerships and events
- Plan and coordinate events, managing vendors and overall logistics
- Plan and execute social media initiatives, driving strategic content and results reporting
- Develop high-quality written materials (e.g., press release, media advisory, pitch, op-ed, script, blog post/web copy, etc.)
- Work with other departments (Digital/Interactive, Creative, Account Management, Brand Strategy) on projects as appropriate
- Leverage research tools and market research to provide analysis and insights in support of plans and pitches (current and prospective business)
- Actively participate in agency committees
- Supervise and lead junior account team members
- Maintain and track billability
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, communications or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years relevant work experience
- Understanding of client's industry including top influencers and competitors
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and service multiple accounts
- Strong pitching skills and the ability to manage media outreach
- Understanding of the media landscape, including social media and tools
- Knowledge and expertise of industry trends and new technologies
