JOB SUMMARY
A shoreline cosmetic surgical office is seeking a Medical Office Assistant to provide a professional patient experience when patients visit the practice. Responsible for coordinating schedules for patients from other practices, answering telephones, collecting patient payments for services, maintaining patient files, and answering patients’ questions regarding medical procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinating with the physician on daily tasks and completing as assigned.
- Scheduling and confirming patient appointments.
- Answering patient questions regarding procedures.
- Organizing, creating, and filing patient charts and chart notes, creating electronic records.
- Promptly and accurately handles data entry into practice management software, miscellaneous correspondence, etc.
- Handling patient paperwork, consent forms, and files.
- General clerical and office administration duties.
- Answering multiple phone lines and responding to email inquiries.
- Confirms patient contact and demographic information at each visit.
- Assists patients as they check out, i.e., collecting payment, scheduling next appointment, add transaction details to the practice management system.
- Collects payment for all services provided prior to patient checking out.
- Compiles new patient information packets.
- Helps to maintain office opening and closing procedures.
- Keeps inventory of clerical supplies and reorders when necessary.
- Scans documents and uploads to the patient chart before the end of the business day.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Prior experience in a medical office needed.
- Experience explaining detailed medical procedures to patients a must.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex procedures in a straightforward manner.
- Organized and able to pay attention to details.
- Pleasant personality and disposition, professional attitude.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication.
- Works well with co-workers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma.
- Strong practice computer skills.
- Bilingual a plus.
- Medical and computer experience.
