Job Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Inventory Specialist to join our team. The Inventory Specialist will play a crucial role in managing, tracking, and organizing inventory to ensure accuracy and availability. This role involves performing inventory counts, maintaining accurate records, coordinating with other departments, and helping improve inventory management processes. The ideal candidate should be proactive, skilled in data analysis, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately track and monitor inventory levels across multiple locations.
Perform regular inventory counts, both scheduled and on an as-needed basis (e.g., cycle counts, year-end counts).
Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical counts and system records.
Ensure inventory data is accurately entered into the inventory management system (IMS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
Maintain optimal inventory levels by working closely with the purchasing and supply chain teams to ensure timely stock replenishment.
Organize inventory in storage locations to maximize efficiency, prevent damage, and maintain accessibility.
Coordinate the receiving, sorting, and storing of materials and products in the warehouse or storage areas.
Generate and analyze inventory reports, identifying trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
Provide management with regular updates on inventory status, including overstock or stockout situations, slow-moving items, and potential areas of concern.
Help optimize inventory turnover by monitoring product life cycles and collaborating with other departments to manage stock effectively.
Perform periodic audits and reconciliations of inventory to ensure accuracy and consistency with company records.
Address discrepancies or issues identified during audits, taking corrective action as needed to prevent future issues.
Assist in preparation for year-end audits, providing necessary documentation and reports.
Work closely with purchasing, sales, and logistics teams to ensure smooth inventory operations.
Communicate stock levels and product availability to customer service and other relevant departments.
Coordinate the movement of products between locations or departments as needed.
Suggest improvements to inventory management processes, procedures, and systems.
Identify opportunities for reducing stockouts, overstocking, and waste.
Assist in the implementation of new technologies or systems that enhance inventory tracking and accuracy.
Ensure that inventory handling, storage, and movement comply with all safety guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Maintain clean and organized inventory storage areas to comply with health and safety standards.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory management or a related role.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Proficiency in inventory management software (e.g., WMS, ERP systems) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to make informed decisions.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Good communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with barcode scanning systems and RFID technology.
Knowledge of inventory control systems and supply chain management best practices.
Certification in inventory management (e.g., APICS, Six Sigma, etc.).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift or move inventory up to 50 pounds.
Ability to operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks, if required.
