    Open Cupboard is dedicated to improving food access in the East Metro area through various programs, including our Today’s Harvest free food markets. We rescue fresh produce, meat, dairy, and bakery items from local grocery stores, farms, and other partners. We are currently seeking an Inventory Specialist to join our team and help manage the flow of food and other products in our warehouse, ensuring efficient organization and distribution to our programs. This is a full-time Monday-Friday position (approximately 8am-4pm, with some flexibility). Open Cupboard is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Receive deliveries (including purchased and rescued items), inspect for quality, and ensure they meet order specifications.

    Organize and label inventory, keeping pathways clear and consolidating pallets to maximize space efficiency.

    Ensure that items are labeled with relevant expiration dates and stored in the proper location for easy access.

    Maintain warehouse organization, ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient environment.

    Operate warehouse equipment such as electric pallet jacks and stacker to relocate items and stage pallets for market staff and volunteers.

    Monitor stock levels and communicate with managers about inventory levels.

    Lead volunteer teams for warehouse projects, ensuring smooth operations and safe working conditions.

    Assist with loading and unloading inbound and outbound trucks, ensuring products are stored or staged for delivery.

    Dispose of trash, compost, and recycling while maintaining cleanliness in the warehouse and parking lot.

    Operate pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently to transport and move materials.

    Use appropriate lifting techniques and equipment to handle heavy or bulky items as needed.

    Work in environments such as coolers and freezers, ensuring compliance with temperature control requirements.

    Handle food products with care to preserve quality and prevent contamination

    Qualifications & Experience:

    Experience in a warehouse setting, including operating pallet jacks and forklifts (preferred).

    Grocery/food work experience is preferred.

    Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks involving physical labor regularly.

    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in maintaining inventory levels.

    Ability to lead and work collaboratively with volunteers and other team members.

    Strong communication skills and a commitment to maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
