    Job Description

    NBC 4 New York is looking for a self-starter with strong writing skills. Candidates must understand the power of visual storytelling. They must be well-versed on social media and understand how to gather the best video content online. They must also thrive under pressure. New York is a big breaking news market so it's important that candidates have a strong desire to deliver news as is happening.

    In this role you will:

    • Work closely with EPs, Show Producers, Anchors, Reporters and Assignment Editors.
    • Write, desktop edit and gather content for all of WNBC's platforms.
    • Produce under heavy deadline pressure without compromising credibility.
    • Need to understand graphic programs to visually enhance and showcase stories with production.
    • Use social media tools to stay on top of news events and compelling video/pictures.
    • Collaborate with members of the WNBC team across all platforms to ensure the most complete local news coverage is both fair and accurate.

    The ideal candidate will also focus on the following:

    • Investigative Field Producing: Candidate should have an aptitude for complex news gathering, including news videography in the field, source building, hidden camera work, filing public records requests, and data visualization.
    • Visual Storytelling: Candidate should be proficient in the use of non-linear editing and/or graphics software such as Premier, Final Cut Pro, Motion, or other platforms to edit and enhance investigative and political stories. Experience developing digital content for social media and web platforms is a plus.
    • Interest in Political and Policy Coverage: This position focuses heavily on investigations that advance the understanding of political and policy topics. Candidate should demonstrate an interest and aptitude for daily coverage of municipal, state, and federal government as well as the courts and law enforcement.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 3 year's experience in newsgathering and/or production.
    • Minimum 3 year's experience writing, producing and desktop editing systems.
    • Knowledge of various media platforms, including broadcast, web and mobile.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications or equivalent work experience.

    _ Eligibility Requirements:_

    • Must be willing to work in New York City
    • Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and overnights
    • Must be at least 18 years old
    • Must have a valid driver's license.
    • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
    • Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
