Position Overview:
The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimization of irrigation systems, with a focus on valves, laterals, controllers, and related components. The technician will travel to various job sites within Santa Clara County using company-provided vehicles and will solely focus on irrigation tasks, ensuring systems are running efficiently to conserve water and promote healthy landscapes.
Key Responsibilities:
Irrigation System Maintenance & Repair:
Diagnose and repair issues with irrigation systems, including malfunctioning valves, lateral lines, sprinklers, and pumps.
Perform routine maintenance on irrigation systems to ensure optimal performance and water efficiency.
Controller Programming:
Program, troubleshoot, and adjust irrigation controllers to meet landscape needs and water management goals.
Ensure controllers are set to operate efficiently according to seasonal requirements and client preferences.
System Installation & Upgrades:
Assist with the installation of new irrigation systems or upgrades to existing systems, including retrofitting with smart irrigation technology.
Recommend and implement improvements to increase water conservation and reduce costs for clients.
Water Efficiency & Troubleshooting:
Conduct site inspections to ensure proper coverage and identify areas of over-watering, under-watering, or leaks.
Make recommendations for improvements to enhance water efficiency, reduce waste, and promote landscape health.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in irrigation system repair, installation, and maintenance, specifically with landscape irrigation systems.
Strong understanding of different types of irrigation systems, components, and smart controllers.
Skills:
Proficient in diagnosing and repairing valves, lateral lines, and sprinkler heads.
Ability to program and troubleshoot irrigation controllers, including smart and traditional systems.
Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in system troubleshooting.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to cover multiple job sites.
Certifications (Preferred):
Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT) or similar certification (preferred, but not required).
Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
Other Requirements:
Must be a resident of Santa Clara County for local availability.
Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs).
