Nurse Practitioner/Hospitalist FULLTIME
The Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides direct medical care to patients requiring hospitalization. They chart medical history, assess health status, diagnose any potential issues, and work with physicians and other health professionals to provide high-quality care. They are in charge of accurately filling out the patients' chart, as well as keeping it up to date as diagnoses and evaluation continue. The Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner also orders tests, collects data regarding the patients' status, and communicates with patients' family members as needed. Additionally, these professionals have to communicate regularly with the physician(s) and other members of the health care team to discuss status updates for patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs evaluation and problem identification of patients.
Performs history and physical examination of patients.
Writes prescriptions, orders and interprets laboratory data and radiological tests.
Monitors patient status and response to treatments.
Documents findings in the medical record.
Recommends appropriate therapeutic interventions.
Provides education and counseling for patients. Directs patient and/or family to agencies dealing with specific illnesses/diseases.
Orders appropriate therapeutic interventions.
Performs procedures for which practitioner is credentialed as dictated by patient need.
Interacts with nursing staff.
Participates in daily team rounding, periodic M&M sessions and department conferences/teaching opportunities.
Participates in Departmental quality assurance, risk management, and compliance efforts.
Required Skills
REQUIRED LICENSES: Valid KY Nursing License. Approved National Certification recognized by the KY Board
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) MUST BE CURRENT.

Required Experience
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE: At least 1 year NP experience preferred
