The Department of Biology in the Petree College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma City University is seeking a tenure track assistant or associate professor whose innovative and creative instruction will complement and enhance the department’s pre-health profession related programs. Successful candidates should have a deep commitment to academic excellence and a belief in a liberal arts education where diversity and inclusion, ethical and critical thinking, and effective communication are highly valued. A terminal degree in a field closely related to the discipline and a proven record of university-level teaching, research, and service are required for this nine-month, tenure-track position. Candidates must be eligible to work in the US. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled with a start date for the position of August 2021. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and/or Genetics.
QUALIFICATIONS
A terminal degree in a field closely related to the discipline and previous college teaching experience are required. Subject areas of teaching that are of particular importance to the department include courses in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, and others that complement the pre-health profession related curriculum. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their teaching, scholarship, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. The Department of Biology is interested in candidates who have an understanding of the barriers facing women and people of color in higher education and bring a prospective that comes from a non-traditional educational background or understanding of the experiences of under-represented populations. DUTIES
Duties of the position include teaching 21 credit hours, supervising undergraduate research projects, academic advising, active participation in departmental, school, and university service, active participation in the department's assessment program, and in student recruiting and retention efforts for the college and the university.

Biology students enjoy small class sizes with a variety of traditional, online, and field-trip formats, taught by Ph.D. faculty that also guide students through one of four curricular paths (Biology, Biology Education, Biomedical Science, and Cell and Molecular Biology) and through preparation for graduate school and professional programs or employment after graduation.
