JOB TITLE: Benefits Generalist
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
SUPERVISOR: VP of Human Resources
FLSA: Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, commuter benefits, other voluntary benefits and 401(k) plan.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in ADP to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
- Assists with new-hire benefits orientations as needed.
- Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
- Assists employees regarding benefits claims, life insurance claims issues and changes.
- Distributes all benefits enrollment materials according to eligibility.
- Assist employees with carriers and process life status changes.
- Responds to benefits inquiries from admins, managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
- Effectively interprets employee’s LOA status implications as they relate to benefit eligibility.
- Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts, as well as entering weekly deferral changes in the payroll system.
- Assists with the open enrollment process.
- Follow with employees who need to provide proof documents for their benefit elections and/or life event changes.
- Process Medical Support Orders and Insurance Verifications.
- Process COBRA packets for employees on a leave of absence who lose benefit eligibility.
- Process weekly reports to track employees on a leave of absence and back from a leave of absence and make updates to their benefits if necessary.
- Assist with proposal and implementation of wellness initiatives.
ADMINISTRATION OF THE ATS PLATFORM:
- Helps with onboarding process, making sure that forms, onboarding trainings and background checks get assigned accordingly.
- Posts and creates new jobs, set up new locations as the company grows.
- Keep track and update compensation tables for job postings.
- Assign and remove access to admins, branch managers, regionals and others as requested.
- Reporting as requested.
SUPPORTS WITH THE ATTENDANCE TRACKING SYSTEM:
- Process weekly reports for employees not accruing any hours worked and follow up with regionals and admins.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
- Good understanding of excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, excel and similar software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
- Associates degree in HR or related field, but experience and/or other training or certification may be substituted for the education.
- One year experience in HR and/or benefits administration.
PREFERRED:
- Bachelors degree in human resources or related field of study.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
