    Job Title: Runner

    FLSA Status (US): Hourly

    Direct Oversight: Restaurant Operations

    Reports To: General Manager

    Job Summary:

    At JINYA Ramen Bar, Runners are Customer Service Ambassadors Assistants. They act in a friendly and hospitable way and perform all service standards with precision while delivering excellent customer service, a 5 Star experience in a fast-paced environment. Bussers are responsible for supporting and assisting servers with all server and guest direct or indirect needs. With an emphasis on clearing/setting tables while maintaining table cleanliness and delivering food. From time to time seating guests and taking orders when need be and supervised to do so.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    Serve guests in a professional and positive manner, including but not limited guest food and beverage orders, delivery of food and beverage and ensuring exceptional dining experience. Some duties include: refilling water/beverages, organizing plate and silver wares, polishing plate wares/glasses, resetting tables and ensuring all guest needs are attended too

    Knowledge of menu items, daily desserts and types of sauces, dressing and sides to clearly explain to guests when delivering.

    Communicate clearly and concisely in a positive and professional manner with guests and team members, both front and back of the house operations.

    Know restaurant information, such as hours of operations, menu, allergies, table numbers, payment options and any relevant information to the operations of the restaurant

    Ensure all opening and closing duties are completed properly. Ensures cleanliness of all work stations, tables, and restrooms, including any area visible to guests upon entry.

    Works independently throughout shifts, in a fast-paced, high pressured environment.

    Utilize JINYA’s steps of service, up-selling techniques and proper menu knowledge guiding guests to daily specials, ensure dietary needs and delighting our guests to our unique offering of ramen and tapas

    Greet guests as they arrive, ensuring proper seating arrangements and reservations check-in or providing a proper wait-list time, if necessary. Engage with guests to ensure a great dining experience

    Embrace the JINYA culture and participate in collective proper company greeting, such as “Irasshai” and “Arigato”

    Support team members in front of house operations, such as refilling beverages, organizing table arrangements, table maintenance, polishing pates or glasses, resetting tables or other necessary items as requested or needed

    Respond to minor guest complaints, and alerting management of any major or critical guests or service concerns

    Complete projects and/or tasks as requested or required by manager(s) or supervisor(s)

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

    Some prior restaurant experience in a support position, preferably in a high-volume atmosphere.

    Outstanding and professional verbal and written skills; with strong ability to multi-task.

    Positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

    Willing to follow instructions and ask questions for clarification, if needed

    Ability to lead by example, inspire and motivate team spirit and effectively present information in one-on-one setting and/or small group situations

    Must be dependable and reliable. Self-motivated and self-initiated to ensure restaurant is clean and presentable to guests

    Experience working in a multi-cultural environment

    Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

    Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time. Able to safely lift and easily maneuver through restaurant with limited space

    Required Education:

    High School Diploma preferred.

    Be able to write and speak English

    Must have appropriate city, state and federal certifications according to location of restaurant, including alcohol and food handling certificates

    Work Environment:

    This job operates in a fun yet professional restaurant environment. This role routinely moves inside and outside of the kitchen and operate tools such trays, glassware, places and other restaurant equipment. Bussers will occasionally ascend/descend ladder to reach overhead items, if needed. Bussers will frequently communicate with staff, guests and other team members; must be able to exchange accurate and factual information in all cases.

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by our team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. The team member is required to frequently stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Team member will work indoor and outdoor environment, which might be hot, humid and wet. Be able to reach, bend, and frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds. Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
