Job Coach / Field Trainer Qualifications
As a Job Coach, you will serve as a field trainer for participants in their natural work environments. You will employ structured intervention techniques to help participants learn job tasks according to general specifications and develop the interpersonal skills necessary for workplace acceptance. Your role involves working directly with participants with disabilities at training or placement sites, guiding them to understand specific job requirements, work-related activities, and rules such as time and attendance. Additionally, you will help them learn appropriate work-related behaviors, including social interactions with supervisors and co-workers.
In addition to work-site training, the Job Coach provides related assessment, such as job development skills, counseling, advocacy, and other services needed to maintain employment.
Reliable Transportation & Insurance: Must have reliable transportation and car insurance to transport clients from home/worksite (paid mileage).
Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and daily documentation are essential.
Job Performance Skills: Ability to build sequences, maintain quality, and manage quantity.
Job-Related Skills: Proficiency in hygiene, grooming, and socializing with consumers and co-workers.
Feedback & Direction: Ability to accept feedback and direction during supervision.
Performance Monitoring: Continually evaluate and monitor the consumer’s performance and progress.
Physical Stamina: Must be able to stand for several hours during the work shift.
Flexibility: This position requires a great deal of flexibility, as assignments and expectations can change daily.
