Description: The Job Developer Specialist works closely with the Career Specialist and the STEP-UP participant in preparing for permanent employment. The Job Developer establishes and maintains working relationships with employers, industry organizations, and public agencies to source job openings and secure subsidized employment opportunities for STEP-UP participants. The Job Developer will explore the participant’s skills, interests, and qualifications to determine employment opportunities that the participant will be eager for. The Job Developer will work with the Career Specialist to assist the participant in re-entering the workforce.
Qualifications: Associate degree or equivalent (Work and/or life experience)
Minimum of three (3) years of experience or equivalent in providing job counseling, job development, and job retention services to disadvantaged, hard-to-serve populations and Welfare-to-Work (WTW) recipients
Experience developing Individual Employment Plans (IEPs) and case management
Ability to facilitate job readiness workshops, create resumes, and job development and placement, develop worksites, and direct hire
Ability to work independently and as part of and a strong problem-solver
Ability to interact well with people from diverse economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds
Ability to meet deadlines, work fast-paced, and follow through reliably on assigned tasks
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
Fluent in MS Office Suite and associated software, including Internet search tools
Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high participant turnover while meeting deadlines
Ability to perform all essential functions as described within what would be considered reasonable accommodation Meet contractual and program requirements and other duties as assigned
The ability to sit for prolonged periods with repetitive hand movements using a computer keyboard in the performance of office activities
Valid CA Driver’s License with a good driving record; must be able to drive for this position
Responsibilities: Develop employer contacts with private and public sectors, establish paid and unpaid work
experience opportunities, create direct-hire relationships with businesses, cooperation, and
faith-based organizations
Ability to ascertain employer needs and advise of agency’s employment services
Skilled in resume writing, interviewing skills, job search activities (online and in-person), coaching, and job retention
Tracks, monitors, and verifies work hours and performance and case notes progress
Assists with the identification and removal of employment and self-sufficiency barriers
Assesses and evaluates participants to determine appropriate job interests and placement
Matches participant skills, aptitude, and abilities to prospective employment openings and makes referrals to secure job placement
Places STEP-UP participants in unsubsidized employment, provides job coaching and retention
Maintains contact with employers and participants following placement to ensure job stability
Collects employment verification letters and performs necessary post-placement and post-exit follow-up to ensure participant job retention
Maintains up-to-date participant file content for accuracy and completeness
Experience in holding job fairs, other duties as assigned
