Position Title: Carpenter
Position Overview: The Carpenter is responsible for constructing and repairing various building frameworks and structures, including stairways, doorframes, partitions, rafters, cabinetry, siding, and drywall. Attention to detail and a strong understanding of both wood and metal properties are essential for success in this role. This position also requires performing various support activities typically conducted by laborers and is classified as safety sensitive.
Essential Duties:
- Assemble and remove forms for concrete installation.
- Utilize a variety of hand tools (e.g., sledgehammers, shovels, picks, handsaws, skill saws, drills) for project tasks.
- Build and install structures such as window frames, doors, staircases, partitions, millwork, trim, siding, and drywall.
- Ensure proper layout of flooring, roofing, and drywall for compatibility and levelness.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project requirements.
- Operate small hand and power tools for various worksite projects.
- Measure and calculate material sizes and quantities, cutting, shaping, and smoothing materials as needed.
- Construct forms and chutes for concrete pouring and erect scaffolding/ladders for elevated work.
- Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, distributing them as per project specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site, ensuring materials are properly stored and the area is swept.
- Promote a safe work environment by communicating jobsite hazards and securing the site at the end of the workday.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a carpenter or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques and methods.
- Familiarity with blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to take precise measurements and perform calculations.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to safety practices and regulations.
