    Advantage Electric is a small, privately owned electrical service company and we are growing! We are currently in need of an experienced and skilled Journeyman Electrician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and repairing wiring, electrical fixtures and control equipment, as well as supervising and training an electrician apprentice on the job.     Job Summary:

    1. The Journeyman will support Advantage Electricians in the maintenance, operation and repair of electrical systems.
    2. The Journeyman will oversee and mentor an Apprentice Electrician who will assist with and perform installation and maintenance tasks in order to ensure the effective operation of various electrical equipment.
    3. The Journeyman will be trained in advance skills in pursuit of a Master Electrician license.

    Essential Functions:

    1. Install, maintain, modify and repair all electrical distribution systems and associated electrical equipment
    2. Remain in compliance with current National Electric Code
    3. Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers, transfer switches and switch gears
    4. Complete work orders and record material utilized on jobs
    5. Run computer cables, connect computer jacks and plugs and test for adequate operation
    6. Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s installation manuals to complete assigned projects
    7. Survey electrical systems, circuits and plans
    8. Maintain job performance logs and any other required paperwork
    9. Journeyman electricians may be responsible for working directly with apprentices and, when appropriate, directly engaging and mentoring them.

    Job Specifications: -High school diploma/GED required -5+ years’ experience in the electrical trade with a valid Journeyman Electrician license from the state of Minnesota -Demonstrable knowledge and skills for electrical installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment -Strong interpersonal communication skills -Experience working with hand tools, power tool and electronic test equipment -Excellent written and verbal communication skills including fluency in English -Frequently moves electrical equipment and appliances. Must be able to lift, push, and/or pull up to 75 pounds. Must be able to twist, bend, squat, reach, and kneel to complete work. -Must be able to move from one task to another quickly and efficiently, prioritizing need based on requests from supervisor.

    -Position may require technician to service emergency calls on nights and weekends

    All applicants will be verified in the Minnesota Department of Labor License data base prior to being asked to interview. All candidates who do NOT hold a valid Journeyman license in the state of Minnesota or cannot prove that they are able to take the Journeyman test will not be interviewed.
