Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Rigging Technician responsible for setting up rigging for construction projects and manufacturing plants. This role requires a solid understanding of rigging equipment, safety protocols, and the ability to interpret plans and measurements accurately.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
- Communication: Utilize proper hand signals to effectively communicate with equipment operators.
- Interpretation: Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and written instructions to ensure accurate task execution.
- Measurement: Proficiently use measuring tools (e.g., tape measure, speed square, framing square) to perform tasks accurately.
- Coordinate Understanding: Fully understand Plant North and drawing coordinates for precise positioning.
- Rigging Knowledge: Have specific knowledge of rigging equipment, including their capacities and applications.
- Equipment Inspection: Inspect all rigging equipment for wear, damage, or deterioration prior to use.
- Material Handling: Attach slings, chokers, spreader bars, etc., to materials for movement, and manually move items using hoists, chain falls, snatch blocks, or come-alongs.
- Lift Planning: Act as a safety observer during equipment lifts and assist in pre-planning lifts.
- Load Guidance: Guide loads during lifts and positioning, signaling operators for directional instructions.
- Structural Climbing: Climb structures as needed to guide and position loads accurately.
- Load Stabilization: Assist in connecting or stabilizing loads before detaching them from equipment.
- Rigging Removal: Detach loads and remove rigging equipment post-lift.
- Outrigger Handling: Place and remove outrigger pads from cranes and other heavy equipment.
- Safety Checks: Perform daily safety checks to ensure all equipment is operating safely.
- Documentation: Complete necessary documentation, reporting, and limited office duties as required.
- Hazard Response: Understand and appropriately respond to safety hazards and warning devices (e.g., back-up alarms, smoke detection, warning tags, sirens).
- Craft Support: Work in other crafts as needed, taking direction from skilled workers or foremen.
- Construction Knowledge: Maintain a basic understanding of construction processes in heavy industrial environments.
- Project Support: Provide additional support to projects as directed by supervision.
