Position Overview
Compensation: $70K–$75K (non-negotiable). A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) is required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Oversee and execute capital and Kaizen projects within tight deadlines.
- Recommend and implement solutions to technical or business-related manufacturing challenges.
- Identify, quantify, and capitalize on improvement opportunities.
Process Improvement:
- Analyze automation systems, material flow, advanced methods, and layout issues, providing innovative alternatives.
- Enhance team member safety through process upgrades.
- Actively support and enforce 6S principles.
Equipment and Tooling Development:
- Design or redesign equipment, ensuring proper fabrication, installation, and startup.
- Develop specifications for new equipment, tooling, and related requirements.
- Ensure processes, fixtures, gauges, and tooling meet production timelines and budget constraints.
Production and Maintenance Support:
- Provide troubleshooting and training for production and maintenance teams.
- Maintain plant mechanical systems and address emergency failures.
- Collect and analyze production and maintenance data to drive improvements.
Continuous Improvement:
- Measure and analyze OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) to identify discrepancies and implement solutions.
- Support new product development from quoting through the production lifecycle.
- Collaborate with sales and product design teams to verify tooling and ensure smooth line startups.
Maintenance Oversight:
- Develop and enhance maintenance systems.
- Support maintenance staff in following established protocols.
- Coordinate the upkeep of forklifts and company vehicles.
Technical Expertise:
- Utilize 3D modeling software (preferably SolidWorks) for design work.
- Prepare designs for equipment and tooling as required.
- Perform root cause analysis, cost justifications, and statistical data evaluations.
Data Reporting:
- Organize and present data weekly, monthly, and annually.
- Compare daily data to production standards and analyze deviations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
- Technical Proficiency:
- Expertise in machine design, SolidWorks, tooling, and machine installation.
- Knowledge of PFEMA, Microsoft Office, and statistical analysis processes.
- Core Competencies:
- Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in team-building and time management.
- Familiarity with TPS, TPM, 5S, autonomous maintenance, and continuous improvement methods (e.g., Pokayoke).
