  • Responsibilities

    Bostica is a locally, family owned cannabis company based in Lynn, MA. Although this position is hybrid we require minimum of 1 day/week on site so applicants must be commutable.

    The Junior Accountant/Bookkeeper will aid in the assurance of complete and accurate accounting and reporting of the Company’s financial data. This position will be responsible for basic accounting functions, including but not limited to, cash reconciliation, application of cash and AR management, AP management, posting invoices and preparing checks and payments, GL maintenance and preparing journal entries, and must be able to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter and problem solver in high growth startup culture.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES (This list is not intended to be all inclusive)

    · Establish, modify, document, and maintain accounting control policies and procedures

    · Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies

    · Support the preparation of the consolidated financial statement process

    · Participate in audits and reviews

    · Prepare supporting schedules for financial statements

    · Perform analyses as necessary

    · Active knowledge of any applicable State and local regulations

    · Aid with cash management, budgeting and financial reporting

    · Set up vendors and process weekly accounts payables, while reviewing invoices for consistency and within budget

    · Process Accounts Receivable and record cash receipts daily

    · Assist HR with onboarding and payroll as necessary

    JOB SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

    · Must stay current and adhere to all policies and regulations in compliance with all local, state, and federal programs

    · Basic math skills

    · Friendly and professional demeanor, tactful when necessary

    · Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing over the phone, email or in-person

    · Highly proficient in QuickBooks and Excel

    · Team player, working effectively with peers and supervisors to accomplish tasks

    WORK CONTEXT

    Physical Requirements

    · Must be able to sit for long periods using computers and various accounting softwares

    · Ability to prioritize and handle typical and crisis situations safely, efficiently, and effectively.

    · Ability to maintain focus for extended periods

    · Ability to see, hear, speak and write clearly to communicate effectively with employees, customers, vendors

    · Normal vision or corrected by use of glasses and/or contacts for normal reading and viewing abilities to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned, or to make general observations of facilities or structures

    · Ability to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound

    Working Conditions

    ● Work is a hybrid schedule, but required to be in the office approximately 4-8 hours/week

    ● Regular interaction with all staff, B2B customers, vendors, referral partners, delivery services and agricultural professionals, Government Officials, State Regulators and others

    Education, Experience and Other Requirements

    · Must be 21 years of age or older

    · Must be able to successfully pass a fingerprint-based criminal history check, clear of any felony convictions

    · Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

    · A bachelor’s or associate degree in business, accounting, or a related discipline is highly desired. Relatable business experience can be substituted for lack of degree.

    · 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience

    · Expert level QuickBooks Pro and Excel skills are highly desired

    · Previous experience with cannabis accounting and 280E is preferred

    · Proven time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time

    · Must have a strong work ethic, attention to detail and able to work independently or as a member of a team

    · Ability to clearly and timely respond to various internal and external communications

    · Manage and multitask across multiple projects

    · Meticulous organizational and time management capabilities.

    Compensation

    This is a part-time position (20 – 24 hours per week). Compensation is based on experience, education, and skill set.
