    Job Summary: The Junior Construction Accountant will assist with all aspects of project accounting from initiation to close-out, ensuring accurate financial records and compliance with company policies. This role works closely with the Project Accountant, Estimator, and project management team, with a primary focus on job costing, tracking project revenues and costs, and supporting the preparation of monthly financial reports.

    Responsibilities:

    Assist in organizing and processing daily accounting activities related to construction projects, including:

    Client billing

    Change order preparation

    Accounts payable

    Job costing and compliance tracking

    Reach out to Project Managers (PMs) and Project Engineers (PEs) to ensure timely and accurate monthly quantity billing.

    Track extra work authorizations and alert PMs and Estimators to any unauthorized work.

    Run and review mid-month cost reports, noting variances and completing cost code audits as necessary.

    Assist in preparing monthly job progress billings per customer requirements, investigating unbilled project costs, and ensuring over/under billing accuracy.

    Monitor receivables, follow up on payments, and inform relevant team members of collection issues.

    Review approved subcontractor billing for accuracy and assist in accruing subcontract payables.

    Manage subcontractor compliance with contractual terms (e.g., bonds, insurance, waivers, billing).

    Maintain financial project files and assist in project close-out processes.

    Participate in WIP meetings to forecast project revenues and costs, recording reclassifications as needed.

    Collaborate with the accounting team to prepare audit confirmations and participate in weekly cash meetings to discuss outstanding bills.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).

    1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or a similar industry.

    Strong understanding of accounting standards and financial regulations.

    Proficiency in construction accounting software is a plus (e.g., Sage, Procore).

    Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.

    Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
