About R&J Utility:

R&J Utility / RR&J Electric is a family-owned and oriented construction company located in Tolleson, AZ. Our company was founded in 2017 and we have since built a reputation for delivering high-quality and reliable construction services to our clients across the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. We specialize in residential underground utility work including sewer, water, storm drain, and electric conduit (Streetlights, APS, SRP). We are seeking an experienced junior estimator with a thorough knowledge of the estimating process and a strong ability to read civil engineering plans. Your main responsibility will be to estimate work for sewer, water, storm drain, and dry utility projects. In this job, you will be an integral part of our team and work closely with our Project Manager.

Responsibilities

Handle multiple bids per week and meet strict deadlines

Complete accurate quantity take-offs per plans and specifications

Create and coordinate project estimates, proposals, and bid documents

Create accurate and detailed cost estimates for underground utility projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs

Obtain and compare vendor and supplier pricing

Build and maintain long-term relationships with key vendors

Additional duties include: ordering, scheduling, and bluestake

Requirements

Minimum 3 years experience in underground construction estimating

Experience in Water, Sewer, Storm Drain, and Dry Utilities

Minimum 3 years experience working in Phoenix/Maricopa County area

Strong knowledge of MAG specifications and local supplements

Experience with Planswift or similar program

Bilingual: Spanish (Preferred)

Proficient in office software: Excel, Word, Adobe

Ability to multi-task and good time-management skills

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Critical-thinker and problem-solver
