Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Behavior Interventionist is an essential part of the school culture team. Together with the Dean of Students, they oversee implementation Tier 1 of the school-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Additionally, the Behavior Interventionist will participate as a member of the RTI-b team and work to design, implement and oversee execution of Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports for students. The Behavior Interventionist will provide critical guidance to Lead Teachers to ensure that all staff are complying with and meeting the needs of all students.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BEHAVIOR INTERVENTIONIST WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Proactive Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Dean of Students to establish a positive, structured, and achievement-oriented school culture.
Assist in the implementation of positive school investment systems.
Work closely with the student support team and RTI-b team to design behavior intervention plans.
Support teachers in building relationships with students and parents.
Model core values at all times.
Reactive Responsibilities:
Facilitate the implementation of specific behavioral intervention plans.
Assist teachers, students, and parents in the creation and implementation of support plans for struggling students.
Reinforce the effective use of the school-wide behavior plan, including the school’s merit and demerit system.
Monitor behavioral pull-outs and resets during the school day.
Support the implementation and oversight of lunch detentions.
Qualifications

Great communication skills with diverse constituents; clear writer, capable facilitator and public speaker.
Above average personal organization skills to keep on top of deadlines and measures of accountability.
Team player: demonstrates maturity, growth mindset, strong work ethic, follow-through and flexibility.
Willingness to offer and respond positively to feedback; Commitment to daily personal and professional growth.
Experience teaching or leading children
Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
Additional Information
Our comprehensive compensation package includes life insurance and long-term disability coverage provided by KIPP Nashville, voluntary medical and dental plans, in addition to retirement benefits and an annual salary increase. To establish equitable salary practices, the compensation package is derived from the regional KIPP Nashville Public Schools pay scale. This position is exempt and will follow a 10-month schedule.
