    Job Description

     

      The Programming Associate provides general and directed support for programming and traffic functions for KQED 9, KQED PLUS, World, and Kids broadcast channels, as well as support for livestreaming and KQED Passport programming functions.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Works closely with TV Programming Director to enter broadcast schedules in ProTrack for KQED 9, KQED Plus, KQED World, and PBS KIDS 24/7.  
    2. Serves on Green Light committee for independent program submissions, screening submissions and submitting notes for feedback.  
    3. Creates daily record sheets and assigns server attachments for automation, tapes, live feeds and file downloads in ProTrack.   
    4. Tracks program rights, usage windows and repackaging updates, including livestreaming and other digital rights.
    5. Curates rotating list of programs to feature in KQED Passport and the Video app carousels. 
    6. Under direction of Lead Traffic Manager, assists with creation and finalization of logs in Wide Orbit and ProTrack.
    7. Builds programming and ratings reports for programs and channels on as-needed basis.
    8. Other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    1. Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcasting, Communications or Media
    2. Strong attention-to-detail and organizational skills.
    3. Good communication and computer skills.
    4. Understanding of non-profit organizations, particularly PBS.
    5. Accurate typing and data-entry skills a must.
    6. Ability to work under constant deadline pressures.
    7. Ability to constantly sit for six to eight hours, ability to occasionally walk, stand, bend, and climb up to three hours; and ability to lift and carry 25 lbs occasionally up to three hours.

    KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

    1. Experience with the program scheduling software ProTrack and Wide Orbit.
    2. Previous experience in a television programming traffic department or television production or operations.
