Job Description

An industry leading plaintiffs’ law firm is seeking a Paralegal for its Irvine main office.  The successful candidate will work in a team with 2 attorneys and 2 paralegals in a fast-paced but mutually respectful and supportive environment handling civil litigation on behalf of clients.  We are looking for a proactive team player who enjoys client and expert contact, managing case details, preparing pleadings, discovery (including e-discovery), document review and research and analysis of data.  We need someone who appreciates being challenged and knows when to exercise independent judgment.  While at least three years’ experience in civil litigation and certificate is preferred, we are open to a sharp candidate with less experience.

The candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to prepare basic legal documents and correspondence.  The candidate is expected to assist with pre-trial preparation, including drafting trial documents and preparing exhibits.  Knowledge of civil litigation rules, procedures, and deadlines is essential.  Expertise is required with office software such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) and Adobe. 

Essential functions include assisting attorneys with tasks from case outset through conclusion including preparing and proofing pleadings, documents and correspondence, managing attorney calendars, handling client contact requiring discretion and judgment, facilitating filing and service of documents, maintaining complex case files in a digital format, and maintaining a working knowledge of the attorneys' practice area.
