    Job Title: Grinding Machinist I

    Department: Manufacturing

    Reports to: Production Manager

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    ** Note: This is a weekend shift: Friday-Sunday 5am-5pm**

    Purpose

    The Grinder Operator is responsible for setting up and editing offsets on a variety of surface and rotary grinders. Also responsible for observing operation of machine and ensuring accuracy of the final part per specifications.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Set-up jobs on the machine, including; loading and securely fixture the work-pieces onto the work table, adjust program offsets and set limit switches.
    • Positions and secures work-piece on magnetic chuck, in holding fixture, or directly to machine table
    • Adjust limit switches in order to optimize the wheel life and machine cycle time.
    • Understand and make adjustments to hold geometric dimensions and tolerances according to blueprints.
    • Provide quality control by inspecting work-pieces as they go in or come off of the machine and remove any defective pieces.
    • Use math, geometry, and trigonometry to complete job responsibilities.
    • Proficient in reading and interpreting 2D blueprints

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a typical machine shop setting with moderate noise levels and moving mechanical parts.
