The Key Account Manager plays a critical role in delivering exceptional service to our most important customers by managing client communications, resolving their issues, and streamlining operations processes. This role ensures a smooth and efficient logistics experience by building strong client relationships and supporting operational success that is the driving force behind Covenant’s customer-focused approach.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the book of committed business to ensure a successful load lifecycle.
- Increase dedicated commitments by cultivating a strong relationship through comprehensive account management.
- Function as the main point of contact for assigned key customer inquiries or issues, proactively identifying problems and resolving them before they escalate.
- Develop and execute account-specific strategies to achieve customer satisfaction, revenue growth, and profitability. Prepare tailored presentations and proposals to address customer needs.
- Provide customers with competitive and timely spot quotes for transportation services based on current rates and market conditions.
- Collaborate with internal departments such as carrier operations, sales, and dispatch to ensure timely and efficient transportation services, addressing any operational challenges.
- Accurately enter load details into Mastermind (or relevant systems) and maintain up-to-date load information for all active shipments.
- Verify and confirm load details with customers and relevant internal teams, ensuring accuracy and alignment on expectations.
Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of the transportation and logistics industry.
- Driven and competitive nature.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to take verbal/written instruction and execute with confidence.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and manage multiple stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply or similar field required. 1 year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of education required.
- At least 2 years of customer service experience required.
- Previous transportation experience required.

Covenant’s compensation philosophy’s intent is to use a competitive total compensation strategy to determine the current market value of a position while also considering individual factors such as performance in current position, time in seat of current position, experience, level of responsibility/accountability, and longevity with the company. The system will be objective and non-discriminatory.
Pay Range: $45,011.20-$69,576
Pay Grade: 7
