Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Key Sales Account Manager to join our commercial bakery team. This role is pivotal in driving sales growth, building lasting partnerships, and maintaining the highest standards of customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of our sales strategy, which focuses on identifying and securing business with our ideal customers — those who value quality, consistency, and partnership and collaboration.
As a Key Sales Account Manager, you will play a crucial role in not only closing significant contracts but also nurturing long-term relationships with customers to drive sustainable business growth. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to communicate the value of our products and ensure that our customer partnerships thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Execution:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to close new business and expand relationships with existing customers.
- Laser-focused on identifying and targeting our ideal customers: those which align with our prescribed sales model and value quality, consistency and partnership.
- Managing a broker network
- Representing the company at trade shows and related events
- Maintain a strong understanding of the commercial bakery industry and market trends to identify new opportunities.
- Navigate effectively across channels, exhibiting agility across retail and food service while identifying ideal customers.
- Maintaining a detailed sales funnel reporting system clearly aligned with the company’s ideal customer sales process
- Consistently meet or exceed sales targets and performance metrics.
- Customer Relationship Management: serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, ensuring exceptional customer service and satisfaction; develop deep, collaborative relationships with customers to understand their business needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Partner with colleagues across operations, product development, finance and logistics) to ensure customer expectations are met and exceeded; support production, scheduling and on-time, accurate delivery of products to customers.
- Works with finance to understand customer payment status and engages customers to resolve outstanding issues.
- Experience working collaboratively with operations and finance on producing an annual operating budget as well as optimizing production planning through regular forecasting meetings.
- Using data and analytics, monitor sales pipeline and contract performance, reporting to management every week.
Business Growth & Development
- Proactively identify opportunities to grow business within existing accounts.
- Pursue new business opportunities with prospective customers that fit the profile of our ideal customer.
- Drive customer engagement through product demonstrations, and effective storytelling of product and company mission.
- Monitor and analyze sales performance, adjusting strategies to optimize results.
- Team Collaboration & Leadership
- Collaborate with marketing and product teams to develop and deliver compelling sales presentations.
- Provide insights and feedback to internal teams to improve products and customer experience.
- Act as a mentor and resource within the sales team, promoting a culture of collaboration and excellence.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of success in food or CPG sales, preferably within the in-store bakery/deli category or related category.
- Strong ability to close customers and grow business with both new and existing customers.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with customers and internal teams.
- Strategic thinker with a strong understanding of market dynamics and customer needs.
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a drive to succeed.
- Experience in managing key accounts and driving long-term business partnerships.

Required education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent combination of work and education.
- 5+ years of sales experience, delivering year-over-year growth in a dynamic industry.
- Preferred experience selling in the food industry.
- Strong ability to influence, mediate, and persuade others.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills, attention to detail, and ability to provide high customer service.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written).
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint. (Experience utilizing CRM and/or ERP preferred.)
