In our long-term transformational program, homeless women with children receive housing, access to health care, education, financial coaching, job training, Bible study and life skills classes in a safe, Christ-centered residential setting. The program is designed to lovingly transform families from dependency to self-sufficiency through daily accountability, personal responsibility and goal advancement.
Kids Academy serves all children in the New Life Mission program with the goal of providing a loving, caring and safe learning environment that encourages and promotes development in the areas of physical, social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual growth.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Kids Academy Teacher will be responsible for providing Christ-centered, creative and safe care for children ages 0-3 and/or 4-12 years. A flexible schedule is required as this could occasionally include evening and weekend hours.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Maintain high-quality child-care standards based on developmentally appropriate practices in a Christian atmosphere.
Maintain trainings and classes for continuing education.
Engage in creative methods of learning, such as arts and crafts, supervised play, and storytelling.
Ensure the classroom is a clean, safe, and organized environment in accordance with program goals and philosophy, safety and wellness.
Encourage social interactions between children.
Plan activities based on curriculum provided to address early childhood development needs.
Prepare for lessons by gathering materials and setting up workstations!
Write reports for parents on each child's developmental progress.
Maintain open communication with Kids Academy Manager, staff and mothers
Encourage and supervise volunteers.
Keep accident reports, maintain confidentiality, report any suspected child abuse in accordance with Florida abuse reporting requirements.
Monitor the documentation of children’s participation in the program in accordance with program policies and procedures.
REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
A heart for children
A willingness to learn with a cooperative spirit
Excellent interpersonal skills and awareness of social/emotional learning
Experience working with children in a classroom is preferred.
Experience working with children with special educational needs is preferred but not required.
Ability to be flexible in scheduling to meet the needs of the overall program.
Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
Honesty, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality
Imagination and sense of humor
All potential candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age and complete a background check prior to employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Be able to lift children up to 50 pounds.
Be able to walk, bend, stand, squat, or sit on the floor (with children).
Ability to physically respond quickly in an emergency.
Be actively engaged and involved with children each day.
Plan daily outdoor time in all ranges of temperatures or humidity levels, subject to safety guidelines.
Be able to travel to various locations for field trips or outings using the company vehicle.
SALARY/HOURS/LOCATION
Full-time 40 hours per week, non-exempt status
Salary $14-$15/hour dependent on experience
Paid Time Off (PTO) and Holiday Pay
