    LEAD TEACHER - SCHOOLAGE

    Job Description

    A Child Care Center Schoolage Lead Teacher is responsible for the academic, social-emotional growth and development of children in their care. The primary function of lead teachers is to work with parents, administrators and other teachers to improve students’ experience and meet teaching objectives. Additionally, the lead teacher will plan, evaluate and improve the physical environment of the classroom to create opportunities that meet the changing needs of the developing children.

    A Lead Teacher Must:

    Be at least 18 years of age

    Have an Associates’ Degree in Early Childhood Education and/or CDA and/or be near finishing a degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education

    Have at least 1 year of experience working with children

    Submit to background check

    Be CPR, First Aid certified or obtain certification upon hire

    Complete orientation and applicable trainings upon hire

    Complete a physical and provide a physician’s documentation of immunizations

    Meet all applicable ODJFS licensing regulations and KAofSL policies and procedures

    Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a large group of children alone in a classroom

    Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences

    Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations of their abilities

    Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull and play with preschool children

    Be available for full and/or part time employment

    Have dependable transportation

    Specific Duties include but not limited to:

    Assume primary responsibility for classroom environment, lessons, and supervision of children at all times

    Establish an efficient and organized classroom structure; ensure that child possessions are organized, child rules and consequences are fair and consistent, and routines are developed to ensure that children feel safe and comfortable throughout the day

    Required Expectations:
