    The Goddard School in Vernon Hills is seeking a dedicated and experienced Kitchen Assistant to support our Kitchen Manager with daily operations. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of or previous experience in food preparation, plating and serving meals. The food handler must have a good attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

    Qualifications

    Must meet the following qualifications:

    High school diploma or GED.

    The ability to prepare food

    The ability to communicate effectively with school personnel, children, and parents.

    Previous experience in a kitchen/food prep environment or similar, preferred.

    Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

    Ability to manage inventory and assist Kitchen Manager with ordering.

    Strong organizational and time-management skills.

    Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

    Must be able to pass a background check.

    The ability to stand for extended periods.

    The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

    Ability to read food labels to identify allergens

    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

    Responsibilities

    Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.

    · Ensuring the safe handling and preparation of all foods.

    Maintaining appropriate portion sizes.

    Manage the daily preparing of meals to ensure they are served at the appropriate temperature and time.

    Prepare and distribute meals and snack to students throughout the school day.

    Properly cleaning and sanitizing all food preparation areas according to established standards of hygiene.

    Washing and appropriately storing all cooking appliances, instruments, utensils, cutting boards, and dishes.

    Assisting with the preparation of meal ingredients, which includes washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting, and chopping fruit, vegetables, poultry, and meat.

    Assisting with the unloading of delivered food supplies.

    Organizing and correctly storing food supplies.

    Promptly transferring meal ingredients from storage areas to the kitchen as per the Kitchen Manager’s instructions.
