    Job Summary:

    The Kitchen Porter at Coopershill has an official title of Plongeur, which is the job title used in a traditional kitchen brigade system. The Plongeur at Coopershill plays an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and storage areas. This entry-level position involves washing dishes, cleaning kitchen equipment, assisting with deliveries, and performing various tasks that help the kitchen staff operate efficiently. The Plongeur ensures that the kitchen meets all cleanliness and safety standards and provides support where needed to the kitchen and front-of-house teams.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Dishwashing: Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment according to health and safety standards. Operate the dishwashing machine and hand-wash items as needed.

    Kitchen Cleaning: Regularly clean kitchen surfaces, including countertops, stoves, and food prep areas. Empty trash and recycling bins and maintain a clean work environment throughout the shift.

    Equipment Cleaning: Assist with deep cleaning of kitchen equipment such as ovens, fryers, grills, and refrigerators as part of daily, weekly, or monthly cleaning schedules.

    Floor Maintenance: Sweep, mop, and clean kitchen floors to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.

    Assisting with Deliveries: Help receive and store food and supply deliveries, ensuring items are properly stored and organized according to safety guidelines.

    Waste Disposal: Take out trash, compost, and recyclables regularly, ensuring proper disposal and adherence to Coopershill’s waste management practices.

    Stocking & Organization: Assist in organizing kitchen supplies and maintaining cleanliness in storage areas. Ensure that cleaning supplies are stocked and available.

    Assisting Kitchen Staff: Provide general support to the kitchen team, including assisting with light food prep tasks when needed.

    Qualifications:

    Experience:

    No prior experience required; this is an entry-level position, but previous experience in a kitchen environment is a plus.

    Skills:

    Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

    Strong attention to detail, especially regarding cleanliness and safety.

    Physical Requirements:

    Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

    Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

    Ability to work in a hot, wet, and busy environment, handling cleaning chemicals and equipment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Certifications: Food handler’s certification preferred but not required.

    Personality: Dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented. Positive attitude and a willingness to assist wherever needed.

    Working Conditions:

    The Plongeur works in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with exposure to hot surfaces, cleaning chemicals, and heavy equipment. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required.
