    Primary Responsibilities

    Manages the operations of the kitchen at Coleman Center, ensuring cleanliness and safety of the space and its contents

    Plans and purchases inventory to prepare meals for various daily programs

    Prepares and serves meals for various programs

    Document and maintain all processes and procedures related to food services

    Serves as a subject matter expert on the guidelines and regulations for Virginia Department of Education’s Food Programs

    Develops recipes and ensures that all meals meet meal pattern requirements

    Maintains daily and weekly meal counts

    Ensures required documentation is up-to-date, stored, and accessible

    Communicates with manager to ensure financial needs are met for food services

    Position Schedule

    This non-exempt part-time position is expected to be available during program hours, with evening and weekend hours when needed.

    Qualifications

    At least one year of experience working in a social service setting

    Current ServSafe certification

    Experience in menu planning and purchasing

    Meal preparation experience, culinary degree, or 3+ years’ experience preferred

    Familiarity and comfort with working with diverse populations

    Familiar with Microsoft Office products

    Must be a team player and possess excellent social and interpersonal skills

    Physical Requirements:

    While performing the duties of this position, the employee must have the ability to

    Bend or twist their body, See details of objects that are less than a few feet away.

    Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects.

    Hold the arm and hand in one position or hold the hand steady while moving the arm.

    Use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired.

    Must be willing to work with various all meat/animal products and produce.
