  • Responsibilities

    Under the general supervision of the Manager of Revenue Integrity, the Charge Capture Coordinator is responsible for the charge capture of the General pediatric inpatient and outpatient services for the assigned department(s). Responsible for ensuring complete and accurate revenue integrity charging standards and medical necessity in collaboration with Case Management and the Charge Capture Specialist. Follows charge capture and billing practices in accordance with Medicare, Medicaid, or Third-Party Payor guidelines.

    Required Skills

    1. Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
    2. Excellent knowledge of health care charging/billing practices
    3. Knowledge of ICD-10 CPT/ HCPCS coding conventions and reimbursement rules for Medical Necessity, claims denial, bundling issues and charge capture.
    4. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
    5. Ability to foster and facilitate working relationships and teams.
    6. Ability to analyze, evaluate and solve problems.
    7. Ability to apply knowledge to work place issues.
    8. Ability to effectively resolve complex systems issues.
    9. Excellent computer skills.

    Required Experience

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

    Two years of experience in the health care industry with at least one year experience working in the following healthcare settings: billing/coding, revenue cycle, or charge capture.      

     LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION

    Certification in one of the following is preferred:

    1. AHIMA- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
    2. AHIMA- Certified Coding Associate (CCA)
    3. AAPC- Certified Professional Coder (CPC)

     

    EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

          High School Degree or equivalent.
