The Manufacturing Engineer’s role, working under the direction of the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering is to ensure all that all production activity within KBC is performed safely and efficiently by providing the necessary tooling, technology and traceable processes to support KBC profitability and sustained growth.
- Designs and implements effective and efficient tooling and devices with emphasis on safety and reliability.
- Provides and maintains basic operation instructions for equipment and processes via the SAP routing module or TWI’s
- Evaluates and improves manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors
- Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements
- Researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
- Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests
- Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Develops, investigates and implements cost reduction efforts and related activities to reduce product and operating cost. Recommend material and product design modifications for the purpose of reducing cost or improving quality.
- Fosters safety and efficiency via KPS principles
- Must be able to follow instructions, safety & environmental rules and regulations. Documents, implements and manages capital expense endeavors.
- Engage in special projects related to new contract demands

Required Skills
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
2-4 Years of Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related engineering field (e.g. BSME, BSEE, BSIE)
Required Experience
MANUFACTURING ENGINEER:
- Associate Manufacturing Engineer requirements plus:
- Proven work experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or similar role
- Relative Work Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 6S Techniques
- Hands-on experience with tools and building fixtures/assemblies
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues
- Able to read schematics and discern functionality of a system
TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Pneumatics/Hydraulics component design and functionality
- Technical Writing/Spreadsheet Creation
- Machine Design
- Lean Manufacturing Principles
- Knowledge of the Rail Transit Industry
- Project scheduling and familiarity with related software
- CAD Experience, 3D modeling
