Position Summary:
The Fixed Equipment Engineer serves as a point of contact for PVOH / La Porte Maintenance on fixed equipment specification, purchase, inspection, repair, and maintenance per plant and industry standards. The Inspection Engineer's duties are paramount in the site's reliability improvement programs.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership in Occupational and Process Safety standards within your areas of accountability.
Lead efforts and Inspection Group in the arena of fixed equipment Mechanical Integrity per OSHA's Process Safety Management Standard and the EPA RMP rule.
Provide technical stewardship for fixed equipment inspection, analysis, repair, troubleshooting, and improvements which target reliability, performance, and cost.
Support plant maintenance personnel during piping and equipment fabrication, inspection, and repair during routine maintenance, turnarounds, and unscheduled outages.
Represent Kuraray's interests during equipment overhaul and repair. Monitor repair progress in Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) or 3rd party repair shops.
Collaborate with plant personnel on data, scope development, and front-end loading for capital projects, specifically for business-critical fixed equipment and piping applications.
Provide engineering support and expertise in areas of corrosion detection and analysis.
Provide leadership to the organization on the latest fixed equipment and piping Maintenance Technology and Best Practices.
Lead predictive and preventative maintenance on critical equipment in the fixed equipment area.
Proactively engage with other Kuraray disciplines, suppliers, and contractors to enhance fixed equipment and piping reliability and performance through the use of appropriate technologies for competitive advantage.
Minimum Qualifications:
BS in Mechanical Engineering
5 - 10 years of experience in the chemical process, or refining, industries.
Current certifications in API 510, 570, and 653.
Experience leading team of inspectors and setting priorities.
Knowledgeable in damage mechanisms, fitness-for-service, and risk-based inspection.
Ability to work with others involved in a variety of functions including operators, boilermakers, welders, engineers of various disciplines, management, and other leaders to impact in a positive way the plant performance parameters.
Experience with fixed equipment (pressure vessels, piping, pressure relief devices, tanks, etc.).
Experience working in a high hazard process with PSM guidelines including preparation of process change documentation, PHA's and procedures.
Strong team player with ability to lead and motivate others.
Ability to manage and effectively balance competing priorities.
Possess networking capability to effectively leverage other corporate and external resources to provide timely, cost-effective solutions.
Computer literate - working knowledge of using E-mail, the Internet, and Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary to sell integrated engineering solutions.
Possess experience managing equipment data in an IDMS (Inspection Database Management System) such as PCMS and performing work administration through a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) such as SAP.
Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Ability to work conceptually, strategically and at the detailed level.
Ability to understand and support a complex operation with sophisticated equipment and a technically challenging process.
In addition to the specific codes mentioned above, applicant must have a general knowledge of U.S. industry standards and other applicable codes relating to fixed equipment and piping (i.e. API, ASME, TEMA, & NFPA Codes and Standards).
