    K&I Healthcare Services supports the recovery of individuals with mental illness and substance abuse. We are looking for a full-time “Intake Specialist”.

    The Intake Specialist helps clients engage in treatment and wellness and has the primary responsibility of scheduling new clients for initial evaluations and will perform other duties related to the intake process. Responds to inquiries for outpatient referrals, gathers demographic and insurance data, collects preliminary client information to identify the appropriate clinician, and schedules initial appointments. Verifies insurance coverage obtains authorizations and enters all required information into the appropriate electronic system. Serves as a point of contact to patients, their families/representatives, outside agencies, and referrers. Works to engage clients in their care works closely with other offices to coordinate efforts, and ensures timely, quality customer service for all inquiries.

    Qualifications

    Master's degree with a valid Maryland LCSW/LCPC License

    Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer with Windows software

    The ability to maintain and protect client confidentiality and privacy is essential

    Ability to multi-task in a high volume, extremely fast-paced healthcare environment; demonstrated willingness to take on varied responsibilities and work as part of a team to ensure the overall success of the Clinic

    Work requires excellent interpersonal skills, warmth, patience, and appropriate boundaries to communicate effectively with clients, all levels of internal staff, and various outside agencies and contacts

    Excellent written and verbal skills for phone calls, letters, and documentation

    Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills

    Ability to work with a diverse population, including an understanding of serious and persistent mental illness

    Knowledge of COMAR and CARF standards

    Analytical ability sufficient to gather and interpret data, apply knowledge of programs to client needs, investigate and resolve client concerns and questions, maintain admission and insurance records, and handle designated administrative detail

    Responsibilities

    Respond to inquiries for outpatient referrals, gather demographic and insurance data, collect preliminary client information to identify the appropriate clinician, and schedule initial appointments

    Work requires analytical skills sufficient to edit documents, generate reports and logs, and summarize quality monitors

    Requires:

    Master's degree and 2 years of directly job-related experience. Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field and experience working in a Behavioral Health setting.

    Knowledge of computer hardware, data software such as an Electronic Health Record, and health insurance authorizations. Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer with Windows software.
