Position Summary/Objective:
The LIHEAP Support Specialist is an essential team member who helps make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families within an eight-county service area. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing, verifying, and processing applications for critical assistance programs, LIHEAP. Your work will directly support the Community Services Program, ensuring that eligible individuals and households receive the help they need.
This position also offers opportunities to connect with the community through outreach efforts, sharing information and resources to empower those in need. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for serving others and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. A strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage data with precision are key to success in this role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Administration
- Appropriately allocate time based upon actual time servicing respective Program.
- Receive, sort, process and quality check applications for LIHEAP.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to requests for information from the general public and answer routine questions in a timely manner.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion with client information, including HIPAA compliance.
- Gather complete and appropriate information to complete data entry and process applications.
- Establish and maintain professional working relationships with Community Partners, clients (neighbors), vendors, and community resource providers in the eight-county service area.
- All other duties as assigned.
Data Analysis
- Determines eligibility of clients, distributes applications, and processes applications accurately and timely.
Program Support and Regulatory Compliance
- Has a solid understanding and adheres to the guidelines for processing applications under the LIHEAP program guidelines and ensures performance standards and federal and state regulations are met.
- Serves as a representative for the Community Services Program bringing awareness to various low-income assistance opportunities in the eight-county service area.
- Establishes and maintains working partnerships with other agencies and non-profits in the service area.

- Healthcare through the State of Tennessee. UETHDA pays 100% of the monthly premium for the Employee Only (estimated cost paid by UETHDA for the employee is over $600 per month ($7,200 annually). Additional insurance coverage is available but cost difference will be paid by the employee.

- Group Term Life Insurance for employee paid by UETHDA at 100% for coverage of 1.5 time the yearly wages
- Retirement Plan--Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS). Eligible employees are required to contribute 5% of yearly wages (pre-tax basis to the defined TCRS plan). UETHDA contributes an amortized amount as determined by TCRS. Employees are vested upon 5 years of eligible service.
- Additional 401(K) and 457 Savings Plan also available without employer match.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time non-exempt position with standard hours of work/days Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Minimum: High School Diploma
- Highly Preferred: AS Degree in Business/Administrative Technology or related.
- Minimum two years of proven, relevant experience in data entry or related.
- Minimum two years of experience in customer service.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Flexible, and service-oriented attitude.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, ability to prioritize and multi-task, and follow-up skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel,) and catch on to other databases quickly
- Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to work effectively with all levels.
- Must pass the reference, background/criminal, and education checks.
